STRANGE COMBOS

Joinings of stones, metals,
woods, plastics, glass Express for me,
  complex themes:
Midnight owls to daylight hawk,
in silvered black stone. Godesses in silvered gray
  marble…speak in
  echoing swirls.

Passion pours from mirror-slick,
  rough-edged granite,
In brilliant,
  molten bronze rivers
That seem to melt in a core
Of fire-bright plastic.

The senseless danger of war
is symbolized in raw, pink marble With polished accents:
Shaped like a rooted tooth,
And with one staring glass eye,
Rimmed by gold leaf-----
There’s money to be made
  from war…but at what cost?

A similar message is conveyed
Through combining
The slim, sleek,
  undulating steatite “skin,”
Pierced by a large
  bronze splinter,
On its way to cutting into a
  gentle,heart-like stone form.
Bright gushings and spatterings
  have been translated into
The blood of innocents,
  murdered by terrible powers.

Pamela Soldwedel Art Gallery of
Mixed Media Abstract Sculptures

Pamela Soldwedel's sculptures have evolved into fresh new dimensions with her mixed media abstractions...joinings of layered stone and metal, plastics, glass and wood bring a multitude of expressions to her creations.

For the viewer, something different and fascinating is presented from every angle and every change of light, especially so due to the sculptor's intriguing use of sinuous shapes in her abstract sculptures.

These mixed media sculpture abstractions capture adventurous essences of nature. Lyrical in movement, they are well composed and as beautifully finished as fine jewelry. Each piece gives delight to the eye and touch, and seems imbued with a life of its own. Delicately poised on a minute footprint, there is a sense of tension...there's mystery...there's surprise.
